Pune Gears Up to Host International Conference on Yoga

Pune: In an effort to offer an engaging and inclusive platform for individuals seeking to enhance their Yoga practice and delve into diverse aspects of yoga and related disciplines, Maharashtriya Mandal’s Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education, in collaboration with Yoga and Ayurveda Prabodhini and The Physical Education Foundation of India, is hosting a two-day international conference on Yoga. This event is a significant component of the Maharashtriya Mandal’s centenary year celebration, as disclosed by Rohan Damle, General Secretary of Maharashtriya Mandal.

Founded in 1924 by Captain Shivrampant Damle, Maharashtriya Mandal has been dedicated to empowering youth by instilling a commitment to physical fitness, with a particular emphasis on preparing them for service in the defense forces. As a tribute to its centenary celebration, an international conference on Yoga is scheduled to be held at Sakal Lalit Ghar, within the Maharashtra Mandal Educational Complex at Mukund Nagar. The conference is slated for February 16th and 17th, running from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm on both days.

Rohan Damle expressed, “Yoga holds a significant role in fostering the overall well-being of individuals and occupies a crucial place in physical education and sports. In order to foster meaningful interaction between educators and experts, uncover innovative practices, and delve into diverse Yoga styles, we have chosen to orchestrate this international conference on Yoga as part of the centennial celebrations of Maharashtriya Mandal. The conference will revolve around the theme ‘Mat to Mind’.”

The conference will be inaugurated on February 16th at 9:30 am. The inaugural function will have the keynote addresses from Yoga Guru Dr. H. R. Nagendra, President of Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana University (S-VYASA University) and Dr. Ananda BalaYogi, Director of the Institute of Salutogenesis and Complementary Medicine (ISCM) and Professor of Yoga Therapy at the Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University, Pondicherry.  Currently, Dr H R Nagendra is the Chairman, IDY (Internal National Day of Yoga) Experts Committee, Taskforce of AYUSH (Ministry of Health &Family Welfare), SAC of CCRY (CENTRAL COUNCIL FOR RESEARCH IN YOGA AND NATUROPATHY), Government of India. Dr. Ishwar Basavaraddi will grace as the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony of the conference. Dr. Ishwar Basavaraddi was the former Director of the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) for more than 18 years.

Some of the eminent speakers who would share their knowledge about Yoga include Dr. Ranjeet Bhogal, Dr. Manmath Gharote, Yogacharya Abhijata Iyengar, Master Kamal, Dr. Renu Mahtani, Eirik Henningsen, Dr. Mandar Mandalik, Sucheta Kadethankar, Dr. Mandlecha, Dr. Vishwajeet Chavan, Dr. Rupesh Thopte, and Dr. Pallavi Kavhane.

The conference will offer multi-faceted experience, combining workshops, hands-on practice, practical sessions, informative displays, engaging exhibitions and paper presentations. Participants can immerse themselves in a wide range of interactive workshops and hands-on experiences, enhancing their practical knowledge of Yoga. The conference features informative displays and exhibitions showcasing the latest developments in the Yoga World. Additionally, there are opportunities for in-depth exploration and scholarly engagement through paper presentations. These papers may also find a platform in UGC Care Listed Journals, adding an academic dimension to the conference. It aims to cater to diverse learning preferences and scholarly interests within the Yoga Community.
