Pune Gears Up for Prime Minister’s Visit: Stringent Security Measures in Place

Pune, 29th July 2023: The city of Pune is bustling with preparations and enhanced security measures ahead of the much-anticipated visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With the visit scheduled on August 1, the authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safety and smooth functioning of the event. A dedicated contingent of Maharashtra Force One, along with the Special Protection Group (SPG), responsible for the Prime Minister’s security, will be deployed for the occasion. Additionally, a formidable force of five thousand police personnel will be stationed strategically across the city to uphold a safe and secure environment.

The primary purpose of Prime Minister Modi’s visit is to receive the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak Award and inaugurate several vital development projects in Pune. To execute this momentous event flawlessly, the Pune police and administration have meticulously planned all arrangements.

Leading the security preparations are Commissioner of Police, Retesh Kumaarr, Joint Commissioner of Police, Sandeep Karnik, Additional Commissioners, Praveen Kumar Patil, and Ramnath Pokle, along with Deputy Commissioner of Special Branch, R Raja.

Every aspect of security has been scrutinized by the dedicated team, from the Helicopter Landing Place (Helipad) to the event venue, and the designated route for the Prime Minister’s convoy. Stringent precautions are being taken to ensure a seamless and secure visit.

On August 1, Tuesday, certain alterations will be made in the city’s traffic movements to accommodate the Prime Minister’s visit. He is scheduled to visit the revered Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple for darshan and later attend the Lokmanya Tilak Award ceremony at the SP College ground. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1), Sandeep Singh Gill, will be responsible for overseeing security in the central area. While the program at the college is invite-only, arrangements will be made for online viewing.

In addition to the award ceremony, several significant development projects will be inaugurated at the Pune Police Headquarters ground in Shivajinagar. The event at this location will be open to all, with arrangements to accommodate up to ten thousand attendees.

The Prime Minister’s visit to Pune will span one day, with his arrival at the Pune Air Force Station in Lohegaon, followed by transportation to the Agriculture College ground in Shivajinagar via helicopter. The event venue will be accessed by vehicle. To bolster security during his visit, three units of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) will be deployed, working alongside Force One squads. The SPG teams will be entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the Prime Minister’s security throughout the duration of his visit.

The entire city is eagerly awaiting the visit of the Prime Minister and is fully committed to making the event a memorable and safe one.
