Pune Gears Up for ‘PEHEL-2024’: Mega E-Waste & Plastic Waste Collection Drive on February 25

In a concerted effort towards environmental sustainability, Pune is set to host a mega e-waste and plastic waste collection drive, titled ‘PEHEL-2024,’ on February 25th. Organized by Pune Municipal Corporation, Cummins India Foundation, KPIT, and local environmental organizations, the campaign aims to raise awareness about responsible waste management and recycling.

The initiative is part of the annual ‘Swachhata Saptah’ (Cleanliness Week) celebrations by Pune Municipal Corporation, coinciding with Sant Gadge Baba Jayanti. Similar to last year, ‘PEHEL-2024’ will see more than 300 collection centers established throughout Pune, encouraging citizens to actively participate in the drive from 9 am to 1 pm.

Citizens are urged to bring their e-waste and plastic waste to designated collection points on February 25. Additionally, certain locations will accept these items on February 24. The campaign emphasizes the importance of separate collection, proper management, and scientific recycling of electronic and plastic waste.

Individuals can contribute to the initiative by setting up collection centers at workplaces or residential societies or volunteering during the campaign. Collected items will be donated to needy students and educational institutions, while the remaining waste will be handed over to organizations registered with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board for proper recycling.

To facilitate participation and provide more information, a helpline number (9075008994) has been established. Those interested in registering a collection center or volunteering can visit the campaign’s website at https://poornamecovision.org/pehel-2024.

All Pune residents are encouraged to join ‘PEHEL-2024’ in large numbers, actively contributing to the responsible disposal of e-waste and plastic waste for a cleaner and greener environment.
