Pune: Funds of Kasba Peth constituency diverted to Parvati; MLA Ravindra Dhangekar demands reallocation of funds to Kasba Peth constituency

PUNE: A shocking incident has taken place wherein the funds meant for carrying out development projects and provision of basic facilities in Kasba Peth assembly constituency, have been diverted for implementing projects in Parvati assembly constituency.

MLA Ravindra Dhangekar addressing a press conference alleged that the diversion of funds to another constituency is doing injustice to residents of Kasba Peth constituency and asked the CM, guardian minister and Urban Development Department to reallocate funds of Kasba Peth constituency to it.

“Funds of ₹10 crore had been made available for developing basic amenities under a special provision for the Kasba Peth constituency. Various works like roads, beautification, jogging track, repairing toilets, footpaths, immersion ghat and development of gardens had been proposed. According to a decision announced by the government on December 20, 2022, the works had been approved and funds of ₹10 crore had been sanctioned,” Dhangekar said.

“However, a revised notification was issued on July 27, 2023 and the funds were diverted to Parvati constituency. This is doing injustice to electorate in Kasba Peth. Politicians of ruling parties are indulging in politicking in development works. The electorate in Kasba Peth will teach a lesson to the ruling party. A doubt is arising in my mind whether this has been done because I am an MLA of an opposition party. This is a deliberate effort to sideline Kasba Peth constituency. We will not tolerate this injustice. We are demanding that the government decision should be changed and funds of Kasba Peth constituency should be returned to it,” Dhangekar added.
