Pune: Female Doctor Threatened and Coerced into Prescribing Wrong Medicines: Two Accused Face Legal Action

Pune: Two accused face a legal police action after they purportedly forced a female doctor to prescribe the wrong medicines and threatened her. In this case, a complaint has been registered against them at Wanwadi police station by a 43-year-old female doctor. Wanwadi police apprehended two people, including a woman.

The plaintiff is a female doctor and has a small clinic in Jagtap Chowk in Wanwadi. On Friday, January 12, the accused, Rafiq Shaikh (55), came into her clinic and pressurised the plaintiff for prescribing the wrong medicines to him.

However, when the plaintiff refused to do that, the enraged accused created chaos in the clinic, screaming and yelling loudly and further abusing the plaintiff in obscene language. Shockingly, he further threatened the plaintiff with being naked and stripping himself if she did not agree with what he said.

After three days of this incident, the accused again targeted the plaintiff, chasing her till her home on Tuesday, January 16, when the plaintiff was going to her house after closing the clinic. At that time, the plaintiff complained that the accused threatened her with killing.

After the second incident, the distressed plaintiff filed a complaint against the accused, Rafiq Mamu Shaikh (55), and one lady, Sarita Kiran Kumbhar, for targeting and harassing her. Based on the complaint, police arrested the accused under sections 354d, 509, 504, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and initiated an investigation into the case. Further investigation is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Shendge.
