Pune: Fed up with harassment, woman kills self; FIR registered against seven persons including her husband

PUNE: A woman died by suicide because she was fed up of physical and mental torture. The Lonikand police have registered an FIR against seven persons including her husband.

The deceased has been identified as Geeta Jadhav (34), a resident of Lonikand.

The police have registered an FIR against her husband Ramesh Jadhav, father-in-law Prabhakar Jadhav, mother-in-law Kamabai Jadhav, brothers-in-law Ganesh Jadhav, Suresh Jadhav, sisters-in-law Kashibai Jadhav and Manisha Jadhav.

Bhagwan Vyankatrao Medhe (39), a resident of Beed district, has lodged a complaint (574/23) with the Lonikand police. According to the police, the complainant’s sister Geeta Jadhav had got married to Ramesh Jadhav.

She was being abused and harassed after marriage to bring ₹1 lakh from her parents’ house for buying a two-wheeler and ₹5 lakh for buying a plot. She was being starved and tortured. Geeta Jadhav was being harassed for 15 years. However, since the harassment did not stop, she died by suicide after hanging herself on July 12 at her residence. API Rajguru is probing the case.
