Pune: Two youths detained in the drug party on Fergusson College Road case have admitted that they consumed drugs at the L3 pub.
The Pune Police detained one and its Crime Branch detained another youth from Mumbai. They have been identified as Nitin Thombre and Karan Mishra. The police said that they would take their blood samples for tests. However, they have already admitted the consumption. Both are in the age group of 24-25. Both are friends and they entered the L3 pub at 1.30 am.
A video clip claiming that some youths consumed drugs in the toilet of the L3 pub went viral on social media. It raised a question mark over the efficiency of the State Excise Department and the police.
Meanwhile, the Pune Police have been analysing the case after the video clip got circulated. The CCTV DVR has been seized from the hotel. Eight people, including the manager of the hotel, have been arrested. All material on the hotel premises has been seized. The State Excise Department has sealed the hotel.
Pub owners were instructed that they should not admit a person without confirming their age. Minors should not be allowed to enter the pub and they should not be served alcohol. They should not remain open after 1.30 am. If local residents complain, action would be taken against them. Despite these instructions, it became clear that rules were violated. The State Excise and the police then took action.
Drugs worth crores of rupees were seized after the drug mafia Lalit Patil escape case. The police had combed the city by taking actions. Stringent guidelines were issued to pub, bar owners.
However, the drug party incident has raised doubts about the administration’s efficiency. Now, the police and the civic body have started taking action.
