Pune: Farmer from Maval lost his life after electric wire fall on him

Pune: In a shocking incident one farmer lost his life when an electric wire fell on him while he was harvesting hay from paddy field. The incident took place on Saturday at around 8:30 am at Kambre Nama (Maval Taluka) district in Pune.

The farmer has been identified as Shrikant Ganpat Gaikwad (33). According to the police Gaikwad was harvesting paddy grass in his field as usual when the electric line broke on him.

Gaikwad died on the spot. A tribal person working in the neighbouring farm gave this information to the family. The police rushed to the spot and did a panchanama on the body and for autopsy it was sent to Talegaon Dabhade primary health center.

Meanwhile, due to the mismanagement of Mahavitaran many accidents took place and the villagers have expressed the opinion that Mahavitaran is responsible for the death of the farmer.

Last year’s accident two youths of Shirde village died due to electric shock. In Karanj village a farmer’s Buffalo got burnt due to electric shock.

The villagers have warned Mahavitran. Since rains started in Nane Maval the electricity is often missing for 10-15 hours during the day. Power supply is at low pressure. Also due to the problem of electricity, many people’s electrical equipments have been damaged. Now after the death of farmer due to electric shock, the angry villagers have warned to lock down the office of Mahavitran.

Sandeep Rekhardewar, branch engineer, Mahavitran, Kamshet said, “The death of farmer due to electric shock is very unfortunate. We will fully assist the concerned families to provide financial assistance through Mahavitran.”
