Pune: In a discordant clash that erupted in the city’s Yerawada jail, a female police constable found herself entangled in the unfortunate target of a brutal assault. On Friday afternoon, a couple from Shastrinagar, Yerawada, assaulted police inspectors who went to the accused’s house to investigate the complaint registered against them. In this case, three people were apprehended by Yerawada Police for threatening the government employee and obstructing the government’s work.
Manoj Mahale (42), Dipali Mahale (42) and Radhey Mahale (18) are the names of the accused apprehended by police. Acting on the suo motu complaint filed by on-duty police constable Somnath Ashok Bhorde, Yerawada police registered the accused family under appropriate charges and took them into custody.
This whole blue-line conundrum began after police inspectors reached the accused Mahale’s house on Friday morning to inquire about details regarding Nikhil Gurav’s complaint against the Mahale family. Incensed by a sudden police investigation, Mr. Mahale unleashed a torrent of fury upon the police officers, casting aside the normal decorum.
After issuing a summons, the entire Mahale family gathered at the police station in the afternoon, only to create a further chaotic disturbance at the police station premises. In a storm of anger, Mahale burst into the police station, heading straight to Nikhil, the complainant, and his father. As Police Constable Somnath Bhorade attempted to intervene and settle the dispute, Mahale launched a sudden assault on Bhorade with his hands, accompanied by a torrent of abusive language.
As this was not enough, Nikhil’s wife, Dipali Mahale, who was abusing the police inspector, also held one of the female inspector’s collars and threatened her not to intervene in between.
After this horrendous incident, the Yerawada police registered a complaint against the Mahale family and apprehended them on charges of assaulting the government’s employee and creating a hindrance to government work. Assistant Police Inspector Lahane is conducting further investigation into the case.
