Pune Drug Case: Sassoon Hospital Drug Scandal Unveiled! Employee Arrested In Connection With Drug Racketeer Lalit Patil

Mahendra Shevte

Pune: In a significant breakthrough, the Pune City Police Crime Branch apprehended Sassoon Hospital employee Mahendra Shevte late on Monday night for his involvement in a drug racket allegedly orchestrated by the drug racketeer Lalit Patil. This arrest comes as part of a broader crackdown on the drug racket in the city, resulting in a total of 14 individuals being taken into custody so far.

Shevte, known for his close ties with Sassoon Hospital’s dean, Dr. Sanjeev Thakur, is believed to have facilitated Patil’s illicit operations within the hospital premises. Shockingly, the police have filed a case against 10 officers and employees of the police force, leading to the dismissal of two police personnel. Surprisingly, no action has been initiated against any individuals within Sassoon Hospital, despite these developments.

The suspicion arises that Mahendra Shevte, a longstanding employee of the hospital, maintained connections with inmates and their relatives, allegedly engaging in settlements. Scheduled for a court appearance on Tuesday afternoon, Shewte’s arrest is expected to unveil a series of scandals within Sassoon Hospital, raising concerns about the extent of corruption and illicit activities within the hospital.

He will be presented before the magistrate court on Tuesday afternoon.
