Pune Police Take Swift Action: 50 Criminals Externed and 104 Booked Under MCOCA
In a resolute effort to curb criminal activities within the Pune district, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4), Shashikant Borate, has taken robust measures, resulting in the externment of 50 criminals and the booking of 104 others under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Additionally, 15 individuals have been apprehended under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords Bootleggers & Drug Offenders Act (MPDA) Act.
Zone 4 encompasses several areas under the Pune city police jurisdiction, including Lonikand, Vimantal, Chandan Nagar, Yerwada, Khadki, Vishrantwadi, and Chatushrungi police stations.
“The action has been taken against accused persons who are involved in serious bodily offenses and terrorizing people,” stated DCP Borate.
This decisive action extends to prominent figures associated with organized crime gangs and their affiliates, with each area’s police station contributing to this ongoing effort:
- Vimantal Police Station – Ravi Jayaprakash Sasane, Prasad alias Chikya Sampat Gaikwad.
- Yerwada Police Station – Aniket alias Datta Raju Sathe, Abhishek alias Abhi Ramesh Tambe, Hussain alias Sonya Yunus Shaikh.
- Khadki Police Station – Nadar Changez Irani, Kasim alias Chitta Babarbaruj Irani, Shahrukh Kasim Bagwan, Ganesh Vishnu Adagale alias Sundri Ganya.
- Chatushrungi Police Station – Ajay Chandrakant Witkar.
- Lonikand Police Station – Tanaji Arjun Jadhav.
- Vishrantwadi Police Station – Vikrant alias Sarda Prakash Devkule.
DCP Borate further elaborated, “We have also detained 15 members under the MPDA who were involved in illegal activities and against whom people hesitated to lodge complaints.”
