Pune District Collector Urges Political Parties for Peaceful Elections

Pune District Collector, Dr. Suhas Diwase, has issued a plea to political parties, urging them to collaborate in ensuring the upcoming Lok Sabha general elections are conducted in a tranquil and orderly manner. His call for cooperation came during a meeting held at the collector’s office, attended by representatives from various political parties.

In attendance were Deepak Singla, Election Returning Officer for Maval Lok Sabha Constituency, Kavita Dwivedi, Election Returning Officer for Baramati Lok Sabha Constituency, Ajay More, Election Returning Officer for Shirur Lok Sabha Constituency, and Meenal Kalaskar, Deputy District Election Officer, among others.

Dr. Diwase emphasized that the administration has diligently completed all necessary preparations for the elections. Adequate manpower has been deployed, and political parties have been kept informed at every stage of the electoral process. Measures to ensure the security of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have been put in place, along with the activation of fixed and floating teams since the announcement of the election, with their activities being recorded on the ESMS app.

Additionally, monitoring of significant bank transactions will be conducted, and a dedicated mechanism will oversee the detection of paid news. Strict action will be taken against instances of vandalism of public property or unauthorized promotion in private spaces. Political parties are expected to adhere to the guidelines provided by the Election Commission of India regarding the model code of conduct.

Special provisions will be made to facilitate voting for disabled and elderly citizens, ensuring inclusivity in the electoral process. Dr. Diwase reiterated the commitment to transparency throughout the election proceedings, highlighting Pune district’s history of conducting elections in a peaceful atmosphere. He appealed to all political parties to cooperate in maintaining this tradition and conducting elections freely.
