Pune District Collector Sets Example, Encourages Voter Registration for Lok Sabha Polls

Pune District Collector, Dr. Suhas Diwase, has called upon eligible residents of Pune to register themselves as voters for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Leading by example, Dr. Diwase has already completed his registration and emphasizes the importance of active voter participation in the democratic process.

Dr. Diwase highlighted the straightforward process of voter registration, emphasizing that eligible residents can fill out Form No. 6 to register as new voters and Form No. 8 for a change of address. He assured that voter registration and address corrections will be processed swiftly to ensure all eligible citizens can participate in the elections.

Acknowledging the significance of voter registration during the election year, the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has issued notifications emphasizing the importance of registration, migration, and deletion of names to ensure comprehensive voter participation. Eligible citizens are encouraged to register promptly to have their voices heard in the democratic process.

To facilitate voter registration, citizens can utilize the Voter Helpline App provided by the Election Commission of India. The app allows users to submit Form No. 6 online or offline at the nearest Tehsil Office. Dr. Diwase reiterated the call for eligible voters to take necessary steps to register, especially if their names are not on the voter list.

The Voters Helpline App provides a convenient platform for citizens to register themselves as voters for upcoming elections. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use the app effectively:

  1. Download the App: Start by downloading the Voters Helpline App on your smartphone from the respective app store.
  2. Login: After installing the app, log in using your credentials or create a new account if you don’t have one.
  3. Search Your Name in the Electoral Roll: Once logged in, navigate to the main page of the app and select the option labeled ‘Search Your Name in the Electoral Roll.’
  4. Verify Your Name: A page will appear asking you to verify your name on the voter list. You have multiple options to do this:
    • Scan Barcode or QR Code: If you have a voter ID card, use your phone’s camera to scan the barcode or QR code on the card.
    • Enter Voter ID Number: Alternatively, you can directly input your voter ID number for verification.
    • Input Personal Details: If you don’t have a voter ID card, input your personal details including your first name, last name, father’s or husband’s name, state, gender, and assembly name.
  5. Search for Your Name: After providing the necessary information, select the option to search for your name in the voter list.
  6. Check Registration Status: Press the search button, and the app will display whether your name is registered in the voter list or not.

By following these steps, you can easily check your voter registration status and ensure that your voice is heard in the democratic process.
