Pune: Dimbhe dam has storage of 93 per cent; Dam may get full soon

DIMBHE: Till today, the storage in the Dimbhe dam is 93 per cent. Although, the dam may be full after some days, the water level is increasing at a less pace compared to last year. The rainfall this year is also less than half of last year. The dam was filled till 97 per cent of its capacity on this day last year. This year, the catchment area of the dam has received 408 mm rain and last year, it had received a rainfall of 998 mm. At present, 680 cusecs of water is being discharged from the dam.

At present, the storage in the Dimbhe dam is 93 per cent. The Dimbhe dam is an important part of the Kukdi project. Apart from farmers in Pune district, farmers in Nagar district also keep an eye on the storage in the dam. In the eastern part, thousands of hectares of land have been irrigated due to the water in the Dimbhe dam.

In the catchment area of the dam, the rainfall has been less than half of last year’s rainfall. Last year, on this day, the dam had been filled to its capacity. This year, it is filled up to 93 per cent of its capacity. Last year, on this day, 1,000 mm rain had been recorded in this area. This year, only 408 mm rain has been recorded.
