Pune Deck Cadet Goes Missing at Sea: Family Seeks Answers

Concerns Mount as 22-Year-Old Pranav Karad Disappears While On Merchant Vessel Voyage

The family of Pranav Karad, a 22-year-old deck cadet from Pune, is grappling with distressing uncertainty as he has been reported missing since April 5 while on duty aboard a merchant ship traveling between Indonesia and Singapore.

Gopal Karad, Pranav’s father, a driver by profession residing in the Warje area of Pune, has lodged a missing complaint with the city police station. According to Gopal, the distressing news came through a call from the Mumbai office of the shipping firm, Wilhelmsen Ship Management India Pvt Ltd, where Pranav was employed for the past six months.

“The ship was en route from Indonesia to Singapore when we received the call on Friday evening, informing us about our son’s disappearance onboard,” said Gopal Karad. “We’ve been assured that search operations are underway to locate him.”

Pranav, who completed a three-year course in marine engineering from a Pune-based educational institute, pursued his passion for maritime work by joining the merchant vessel. His sudden disappearance has left his family deeply worried, prompting them to seek assistance from both central and state authorities.

“We have reached out to both Mumbai and Pune police departments, urging them to aid in the search efforts,” added Gopal Karad.

As the search for Pranav continues, his family remains hopeful for his safe return, clinging to the belief that concerted efforts will lead to his whereabouts being discovered soon.
