Pune: Deadline for regularising illegal constructions in PMRDA limits extended

PUNE: The deadline for regularising illegal constructions on private lands in PMRDA’s jurisdiction according to the Gunthewari Rules, has been extended by six months. Since PMRDA’s development plan is going to be finalised by December, the obstacles present in the rules are likely to be removed. Hence, the deadline of October 31 set for regularising illegal constructions has been extended by six months.

After corrections were made in section 3 (1) of Maharashtra Gunthewari Development Rules, 2001, illegal constructions existing on private lands before December 31, 2020 became eligible for regularisation.

Accordingly, a deadline of October 31 had been set for completing paperwork and formalities for regularising illegal constructions on private land. However, considering the jurisdiction of PMRMDA, the deadline has been extended to April 30, 2024. PMRDA Commissioner Rahul Mahiwal said that strict action would be taken against those who don’t submit applications during the period.

Meanwhile, the development plan of PMRDA is likely to be finalised by December end. At present, it is being said that rules existing for regularising illegal constructions are tough. Hence, there is a possibility that these conditions are likely to be omitted from the development plan. Because of these conditions, the response of citizens to regularise illegal constructions is very less. Even if some citizens submit applications, sources said that there are limitations on taking decisions. Hence, it is being speculated that tough conditions will be dropped from the development plan. This will speed up the process of legalising unauthorised structures. Hence, decks will be cleared for regularising illegal structures in Wagholi, Manjari, Fursungi, Lonikand, Loni Kalbhor, Vadachiwadi, Holkarwadi, Handewadi, Nanded, Vadgaon, Narhe Ambegaon, Sus, Gahunje, Hinjewadi and Maan.

Ramdas Jagtap, Deputy Collector, PMRDA said, “PMRDA is taking action against illegal structures. If citizens submit required documents within the deadline, the constructions will be regularised. Citizens should take advantage of this scheme.”
