Pune: Daring dog Drona seizes 32 kg ganja in Konark Express

PUNE: The Mumbai-Bhubaneshwar (11020) Konark Express is now becoming a favourite mode of transport of drug smugglers and for the second time, 32 kg ganja has been seized. The noteworthy action has been taken by dog Drona of the dog squad of the RPF. Last week, 1.5 kg ganja had been seized near the toilet of a general compartment. On Thursday, in the same train, Drona and RPF jawans seized 32 kg ganja in a trolley bag in a general compartment.

According to information given by RPF, in the general coach CR 216170 of Konark Express 31 kg ganja worth ₹2.48 lakh was found in two trolley bags. RPF API Ajit Kolhe, Head Constable of RPF dog squad Sunil Hole and Head Constable Ganesh Bhor, Drona and PSI Pravesh Kumar Yadav found a blue trolley bag below seat number 21 in the general coach of the train on platform number 1 at Pune railway station at 11.15 pm and also red trolley bag below seat number 41. With the help of Drona, it was confirmed that both the bags contained ganja.

After getting information, Assistant Security Commissioner Pravirkumar Das of Pune Division, Inspector Sandip Pawar and Inspector BS Raghuvanshi rushed to the spot. A seizure panchnama and list of seized items was made and handed over to GRP Pune for further action under the NDPS Act. An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act, 1985 and API Jagtap is probing the case.
