Pune Dam Storage Reaches 83.92%: Ample Rainfall Boosts Water Levels

Pune: Recent continuous rainfall in catchment areas has led to a significant increase in water levels in dams. As of Thursday, the collective storage in Khadakwasla, Panshet, Warasgaon, and Temghar dams has reached an impressive 83.92%. Notably, Panshet and Khadakwasla dams have crossed the 90% mark and are currently over 90% full.

The rise in water levels in the dams has been a welcome sight, and it is also aiding in accumulating water at Ujani Dam in Solapur district, which currently stands at 4% capacity.

Comparing the data from the same day last year, there has been a substantial improvement. On August 3 last year, the Khadakwasla dam had a storage level of 72.88%, whereas this year, it has surged to 95.51%.

Once the dams in Pune district reach their full capacity, the Irrigation Department initiates the release of water to the Ujani dam, which, in turn, provides water to various regions including Baramati, Indapur, Osmanabad, Solapur, and parts of Marathwada. The timely release of water is a testament to the efficient management of resources by the department, taking advantage of the favorable rainfall spell.
