Pune Police MCOCA Action

Pune: In a decisive move against rising criminal activities in the Kothrud area, Commissioner of Police Ritesh Kumar has taken strict action against Siddhant alias Siddharth alias Siddhya Sanjay Marathe (24), a notorious offender residing in Pratiknagar, Jai Bhavaninagar, Kothrud.

Commissioner Ritesh Kumar has been actively addressing the surge in criminal incidents, having already taken action against 87 serial criminals. Siddhant Marathe, with a history of serious offences, has been involved in crimes such as attempted murder, grievous hurt, arson, rioting, and illegal possession of dangerous weapons, including knives, swords, and rods, within the jurisdiction of Kothrud Police Station.

The accused has accumulated five serious criminal charges over the last five years, causing significant disruptions to public order in the area. The atmosphere of fear created by Marathe had deterred citizens from openly reporting crimes due to the perceived threat to life and property.

After careful consideration of a proposal submitted to initiate action under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act against Marathe, Commissioner Ritesh Kumar has issued an order for his immediate detention. The Commissioner has directed that Marathe be incarcerated in Nagpur Central Jail for a period of one year under the provisions of the MPDA Act.

This proactive step was taken by the collaborative efforts of Senior Police Inspector Hemant Patil of Kothrud Police Station and Senior Police Inspector Chandrakant Bedre of the Crime Branch, PCB, along with dedicated police officers and enforcers.

Commissioner Ritesh Kumar emphasised the commitment of the police force to maintain law and order, ensuring the safety and security of the residents in the Kothrud area.
