Pune Citizens’ Aspirations for PM Narendra Modi’s Visit: Development and Infrastructure Top the List

Pune, 29th July 2023: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Pune draws near, the citizens of the city have taken to social media to share their hopes and wishes for the region’s development and progress.

The initiative was sparked by industrialist Sudhir Mehta, who posed a simple yet powerful question to the people of Pune: What one request would they make to the Prime Minister as citizens of the city? The response has been overwhelming, with citizens expressing their aspirations and suggestions for the betterment of Pune.

Aditya Kondawar’s request centered around urging the government to embark on a war-footing development of Pune’s infrastructure. Additionally, he expressed a heartfelt desire to meet the Prime Minister someday.

Shravan Suratwala emphasized the need for focusing on completing and enhancing existing infrastructure and civic projects before embarking on new ones. This approach, according to him, would significantly benefit the citizens of Pune and also bolster the local BJP’s image in preparation for the upcoming 2024 elections.

Omkar Jadhav drew attention to Pune’s vital role as one of the highest GST taxpayers in the country. He questioned the pace of development in the city and suggested adopting a more expeditious approach to address the city’s growth requirements effectively.

Amit Kanodia’s request covered a broad spectrum of development priorities for Pune. His wish list included the establishment of an International Airport, high-speed rail connectivity to Navi Mumbai Airport, improved metro connectivity to IT parks and auto clusters to alleviate traffic congestion, and town planning solutions incorporating adequate parking facilities. Additionally, he advocated for prestigious institutions like IIT, IIM, and AIIMS to be set up in Pune, along with inviting Tesla’s Giga factory to the city.

Another concerned citizen named Amit emphasized the importance of having accountable representatives who prioritize better infrastructure. His request included improved roads and footpaths, an expanded runway at the existing airport, and a comprehensive development plan for the city.

Abhishek raised the issue of Hinjewadi traffic and called for the Prime Minister’s attention to find sustainable solutions for the problem.

Mercurial acknowledged the limitation of one request but skillfully combined multiple aspects related to transportation. Their appeal included a holistic upgrade to public transport, pothole-free roads, emphasis on safe driving practices, and the development of an extensive metro network.

Ritesh invited the Prime Minister to personally experience Pune’s world-class infrastructure by traveling from Hadapsar to Baner without VIP services.

LiveableHinjawadi demanded proper infrastructure and accountability from designated authorities to ensure efficient city management. They highlighted the untapped potential of Pune, citing issues like poor roads to IT parks, public transport, and garbage management as areas needing immediate attention.

Dipak extended an invitation to PM Modi to visit Mundhwa Signal and Keshavnagar area to witness the accomplishments of the Pune Municipal Corporation firsthand.

Siddharth Date brought attention to the crucial need for improved infrastructure and roads, expressing concerns about the current condition of roads and the quality of materials used.

The diverse range of requests expressed by the citizens of Pune showcases their eagerness for the city’s progress and development. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit approaches, the hopes and aspirations of the people stand united in their pursuit of a better and thriving Pune.
