Pune: Chilly weather conditions are likely to prevail in the State from Saturday. Many parts of the State may receive light rainfall for the next three days. Later, skies will be clear and minimum temperatures may drop further and cold weather is likely to be witnessed.

According to the met office, a trough of easterlies spans from north Kerala to north Maharashtra. Cold westerlies are impacting the northern parts of Maharashtra. Northwestern Arabian Sea and adjacent coastal area of Maharashtra is witnessing the formation of a cyclone. An intense low pressure area has formed in southeastern Bay of Bengal, which will turn into a cyclonic storm on Saturday (December 2).

As a cumulative effect of these weather systems, there will be sporadic light rainfall in Vidarbha, Marathwada and central Maharashtra for the next three days. Cloudy weather is likely to subside and the State will experience cold weather from Saturday.

It is predicted that cold weather will set in early in north Maharashtra and Vidarbha due to cold winds blowing from the west. The State’s lowest minimum temperature of 14.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Mahabaleshwar on Wednesday.
