Pune Businessman Swindled of Rs 1 Crore; Alankar Police Launches Investigation

In a distressing incident, a businessman on Dhole-Patil Road in Pune has fallen victim to a financial scam, losing a staggering amount of Rs 1 crore. The Alankar Police are now actively investigating seven individuals, including the victim’s gym companions, who are suspected of duping him with the lure of doubling his investment in just six months.

According to sources within the Alankar Police, the victim regularly interacted with the seven men at a gym situated on Gulavani Maharaj Road. These individuals, who come from different parts of the city, engaged in discussions with the businessman about strategies to increase profits and explored various investment options. During one of these meetings, held at an office on DP Road in Erandwane, the seven men allegedly persuaded the businessman to invest in their import-export business, promising to double his returns within the span of six months.

A senior officer from the Alankar Police revealed that, unfortunately, after the victim transferred the substantial sum of money to the accounts of his acquaintances, they failed to fulfill their promise of returning the initial investment along with the promised profit. Despite multiple meetings to address the repayment concerns, the businessman found himself empty-handed.

The investigation is ongoing, with the Alankar Police diligently examining the financial transactions, statements, and backgrounds of the accused individuals. Charges related to fraud and financial misappropriation are likely to be filed against the suspects once the evidence is thoroughly scrutinized.
