Pune: Burglars Break Into SBI ATM Machine In Ravivar Peth, Bank Officials Unaware Of The Incident For Five Days

Pune, 18th July 2023: A complaint has been lodged by a Deputy Manager of the State Bank of India (SBI) with the Pune City Police regarding a burglary at an ATM machine in the Ravivar Peth area. The incident occurred between July 10 and 15 at the bank’s ATM located at Phadke Haud.

According to the police, the burglars used cutters and an iron rod to break into the ATM machine and made away with a sum of Rs 13,34,200 in cash. An FIR has been registered at the Faraskhana Police Station under sections 380 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against unidentified individuals involved in the theft.

What makes this case intriguing is that the bank officials were unaware of the incident for five days as the system that alerts the bank in the event of an ATM theft was not functioning. It was only after the bank officials discovered the cash missing from the ATM machine that they filed a complaint with the police. The police have obtained some CCTV footage related to the case and are conducting further investigations.
