Pune: BRT Route Being Dismantled On Nagar Road To Ease Traffic

Yerwada, 24th June 2023: The process of dismantling the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route on Nagar Road, stretching from Yerwada (Gunjan Chowk) to Vimannagar Phoenix Mall on Pune-Ahmednagar Road, has commenced as of Saturday morning. The decision to remove this particular route was made due to the ongoing metro construction and the temporary closure of all BRT routes.

The Divisional Commissioner, Municipal Commissioner, and Pune Traffic Police engaged in discussions and reached a consensus on conducting an experimental removal of the BRT route. This decision aims to alleviate traffic congestion and facilitate smoother movement of vehicles in the area.

The BRT route removal process is expected to be completed in a phased manner. The authorities have taken this step to assess the impact on traffic flow and study the effectiveness of alternative measures to ensure efficient transportation for commuters.

The closure of the BRT route may cause some inconvenience to regular users of the stretch. However, the authorities have assured that alternate arrangements will be made to minimize the disruption and inconvenience during the dismantling process.

The removal of the BRT route on Nagar Road is part of the larger efforts by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to improve the city’s road infrastructure and address traffic congestion issues. The decision was taken after careful consideration of the ongoing metro construction and the need to optimize traffic movement in the area.

The PMC, in collaboration with the concerned authorities, will closely monitor the impact of the BRT route removal and make necessary adjustments to ensure a smooth transition and minimize any adverse effects on commuters. The data collected during this experimental phase will help in planning future road infrastructure developments and implementing effective traffic management strategies.
