Pune, 11th July: In a shocking incident near Pune Railway Station, an auto rickshaw driver has been arrested for threatening a woman traffic constable and attacking himself with a blade. The incident occurred when the traffic personnel were taking action against the accused for parking his auto rickshaw in a No Parking area.
According to the police, the accused became agitated when the traffic constable started issuing an e-Challan for the violation. In a fit of anger, he snatched the e-Challan machine from the constable and proceeded to threaten her. To further intimidate her, he even inflicted self-harm by attacking himself with a blade.
The incident drew the attention of other traffic personnel in the vicinity, who immediately called the local police for assistance. The accused, identified as Khandu Mahadev Waghmare, a resident of Yerwada, was taken into custody by the authorities.
A case has been registered against the accused at the Bundgarden Police Station under relevant sections of the law. The police are currently conducting further investigations into the matter to gather additional evidence and statements from witnesses.
