Tukaram Supe

Pune: On Wednesday, December 6, the Pune anti-corruption department made a swoop on the illegal properties of Tukaram Namdev Supe, the main culprit in the TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) exam scam. It has been found that Tupe acquired enormous intangible assets by misusing his government position during his work as chief education officer from 1986 to December 2021. Therefore, the Pune Anti-Corruption Department has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Tukaram Supe.

Tukaram Supe, age 59 and a resident of Pimple Gurav, is the prime culprit in the TET exam scam. The TET exam scam in Maharashtra came to light in 2021, when it was revealed that there had been widespread cheating in the November 2020 TET exam. The scam involved a network of people who helped candidates cheat in the exam, including by providing them with leaked question papers and answers. Supe is the main mastermind behind this scam.

In this regard, the police inspector of the Pune anti-corruption department, Sriram Vishnu Shinde, has filed a complaint at Sangvi police station. Accordingly, Tukaram Namdev Supe was booked under Section 13(1)(e), 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, Section 13(1)(b), and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act. The police registered multiple cases against him under various sections of the IPC, such as 406, 409, 420, and 467.

During the investigation, it has been revealed that Tupe, while working as an education officer, amassed a total of 2 crore, 87 lakh, 99 thousand, and 590 rupees and gold jewellery worth 145 tola, which is approximately valued at 3 crore, 59 lakh, and 60 thousand rupees collectively through illegal means. ACB, while swooping on his intangible assets, seized all this property.

This action was taken by the Pune Anti-Corruption Department team under the guidance of Pune Zone Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe and Additional Superintendent of Police Sheetal Janve. Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhuri Bhosle is conducting further investigation into it.
