Pune: Alleged Sexual Assault On Minors Leads To 3 Months Pregnancy; Accused Registered Under POCSO Act

Pune: In an unsettling incident that transpired in the Koregaon Park area of Pune, a 19-year-old youth sexually assaulted his minor classmate, which resulted in her 3-month pregnancy. In this regard, a complaint has been registered against an accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act.

The given incident took place on July 18, 2023. As per the police complaint, the accused Pratik Mundkar and victim are classmates and were studying in the same class at a private college in Kondhwa. On July 18, early this year, the accused purportedly took the minor victim to one of the residential buildings in the Koregaon Park area.

There, the accused forcibly had a sexual encounter with the victim. Shockingly, the incident came to light after the victim was found three months pregnant. After this, the parents of the victim girl promptly alerted the police to the incident and lodged a formal complaint against the accused at Kondhwa Police Station.

As this incident took place within the jurisdiction of Koregaon Park Police Station, Kondhwa Police registered a case against the accused and transferred it to Koregaon Park Police. Accordingly, Koregaon police registered a case against Prateek Mundkar under IPC 376/2/N, POCSO Act. The police subsequently took the accused into custody, and they are conducting further investigation into it.
