Pune / Lonavala: The police fined 362 New Year revellers at the hill station for violating traffic rules. Over Rs 2.61 lakh was recovered in fines from 362 people on December 30 and 31.
People crowded Lonavala to welcome New Year. Some of them violated traffic rules by causing hurdles to traffic; not possessing a driving licence, entering ‘no entry’ lanes; going the opposite direction in the lane and driving under the influence of alcohol. The action was taken by issuing a fine receipt through e-challan machines.
The action was taken under the guidance of Lonavala SDPO Satyasai Karthik and PI Sitaram Dubal. API (Traffic) Ramesh Bhise, Anil Shinde, Sachin Kadale and Amol Phalke took part in the action. Municipal council wardens, police mitra and volunteers of National Service Scheme helped the traffic police in traffic management.
