Pune: In the wake of a disturbing incident that unfolded in Wagholi, a 32-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a man who lured her into marriage. This incident took place at the victim’s house in Wagholi between June and October this year. This shocking discovery came to light after a victimised woman chose to file a police complaint at Lonikand police station against an accused person.
The police complaint states that the accused, 32-year-old Abhijit Narendra Chavan, persuaded the accused woman to marry him even though he was already married. Then he sexually assaulted the woman with force. He furthermore, thrashed and mistreated the woman when she attempted to resist him.
Astonishingly, he threatened to libel her by letting her pornographic images go viral if she left him. When he realised that his threats had no effect on her, he threatened to commit suicide and asked whether she would notify anyone. In this case, a woman went to the Lonikand police station and officially complained about an accused person.
Accordingly, police registered a formal complaint under IPC 376/2/N, 377, 323, 504, 506 against an accused. The Senior Assistant Police Inspector, Pawar, is now investigating the matter.
