Pune: 12 Thousand Punekars Enjoy Benefits of Pune Metro’s One Pune Card

In a testament to the growing trend of embracing digital solutions for everyday tasks, over 12,000 Pune residents have demonstrated their ‘smartness’ by opting for the convenience of the Pune Metro’s One Pune Card. Not only have they chosen a hassle-free way to purchase metro tickets, but they have also reaped the rewards of a 10 percent discount on their ticket fare by choosing to acquire the metro card online.

According to information shared by Dr. Hemant Sonawane, Executive Director of Public Relations and Administration at Pune Metro, an impressive 12,600 users have not only purchased but also enjoyed the numerous benefits of the One Pune Card since its inauguration on August 12th. What’s truly remarkable is that this milestone was achieved in just 25 days, underscoring the swift adoption and popularity of this digital initiative among Pune’s residents.

The One Pune Card is readily available at every operational metro station, making it easily accessible to commuters. When individuals visit the Pune Metro portal, they will seamlessly find the option to obtain a metro card. This card involves a simple KYC process, requiring users to provide basic identity, bank, and account information. Once this is completed, individuals can load their metro card with their desired amount, starting from as low as Rs 100.

Here’s how the One Pune Card simplifies the metro travel experience:

  1. Ease of Procurement: While most of the process is conducted online, individuals need to visit the nearest metro station to collect the physical card. Once in possession of the card, they can use it for automatic fare deduction when swiping it at the metro station. The card is versatile and can be used at any station across Pune’s metro network.
  2. Beyond Metro Travel: An added perk of the One Pune Card is its versatility. In addition to facilitating metro travel, these cards can also be used for shopping or at hotels, expanding their utility beyond the realm of commuting.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the expansion of Pune’s metro lines on August 1, 2023. Since then, a staggering 12,600 Punekars have opted for the convenience of purchasing this metro card online. Notably, these cardholders enjoy a 10 percent discount on their metro ticket prices, making their commutes more affordable. What’s more, there are no additional costs associated with acquiring the card itself; it is provided free of charge.

The enthusiastic response to the One Pune Card not only highlights the city’s readiness to embrace digital solutions but also signifies the success of the Pune Metro’s efforts to provide commuters with a convenient, cost-effective, and versatile means of travel. As Pune continues to evolve as a smart city, initiatives like these are poised to play an instrumental role in enhancing the overall quality of life for its residents.
