Private Firms to Take Charge of Maintaining MSRTC Bus Stands

Pune: In a strategic move, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is considering entrusting the responsibility of maintaining 35 bus stands across 15 bus depots in Pune to private organizations. This initiative aims to enhance the upkeep and maintenance of these crucial transportation hubs. The comprehensive list and detailed information regarding the designated bus stands will be disclosed shortly.

Kailas Patil, Deputy Manager of MSRTC Pune, stated, “Proposals for the maintenance, repair, and other essential tasks related to the bus stands have been formulated at the departmental level. The selection of stations for adoption will be based on priority and the need for maintenance.”

Under the “Balasaheb Thackeray Swachh Sundar Bus Sthanak Abhiyan,” this scheme is being introduced, allowing industry groups, trade associations, cooperatives, factories, entrepreneurs, and others to adopt bus stands. Interested parties will be granted the opportunity to take over a bus stand for a duration of one year. In exchange for the adoption, a designated 10 by 10 space in front of the bus stand will be allocated to the organization. This space can be utilized for promotional activities such as setting up temporary stalls, banners, or other promotional materials to showcase their products and services.

Once a bus stand is adopted by an organization, a series of steps will be taken to enhance its cleanliness and aesthetic appeal. These tasks include repairing the stand, repainting, fixing electrical equipment, installing lighting fixtures and fans, renovating the stand’s restroom facilities, placing guide boards on the platform, daily cleaning, beautifying the surroundings of the bus stand, and more.

In light of this initiative, MSRTC is actively encouraging organizations to step forward and take charge of the repair, upkeep, and maintenance of designated bus stands. This collaborative effort is expected to contribute to the overall enhancement of the travel experience for commuters and the beautification of the transportation infrastructure in the region.
