Power Woes Grip Pimpri Chinchwad Suburbs as Summer Heats Up

Rising Temperatures Bring Unplanned Power Disruptions, Prompting Concerns Among Residents

As summer’s scorching heat intensifies, residents across the suburbs of Pimpri Chinchwad find themselves grappling with unexpected power outages, adding to their discomfort and anxiety.

Areas like Nigdi, Pradhikaran, and Chikhali have borne the brunt of these disruptions, raising doubts about the reliability of electricity supply during the sweltering summer months.

In Pradhikaran, sectors 24, 27, 27A, and 28 plunged into darkness late at night, enduring hours without power, exacerbating the challenges of coping with the rising temperatures.

Infrastructure projects, including CCTV installations and cable laying, have been identified as key contributors to these disruptions. Instances of power lines snapping during road excavation due to coordination lapses between departments have further compounded the issue.

Similar incidents near Mhalsakant Square and other areas have resulted in prolonged outages, adversely affecting residents and local businesses.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) attributes these outages to ongoing road works, equipment breakdowns, and distribution panel malfunctions.

Small-scale industries in the Talawade area are also bearing the brunt of power supply irregularities, facing significant interruptions that hamper their operations and profitability.

Despite engagements between entrepreneurs’ associations and MSEDCL, a concrete solution to the problem remains elusive, with disruptions on working days translating into financial losses for local businesses.

Nishikant Raut, MSEDCL’s public relations officer, has assured residents that swift actions are being taken to address power outages resulting from various local issues.
