Power Outage Affects 65,000 Consumers in Mulshi Taluka, Prompt Action Restores Electricity

MSEDCL

Pune News: More than 65,000 consumers spanning 45 villages in Mulshi taluka faced a significant power outage lasting over three hours due to the sudden breakdown of a high-power line on Tuesday. The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) swiftly collaborated with the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL) to rectify the issue and provide alternative power arrangements, gradually restoring electricity to the affected area.

The disruption, initiated by a severed 220-kilowatt power cable of MSETCL at 9:10 am, impacted vital substations in Pirangut and Hinjewadi, affecting a vast populace across Mulshi taluka. Places like Bhukum, Bhugaon, Pirangut, Kolvan Khore, and Mutha Khore were among those hit by the outage, stemming from a broken power line in Ambegaon around the same time.

According to a statement from a MSEDCL official, the outage led to a deficit of 70 MW in power supply to the area, significantly affecting the daily lives of residents across several villages, including parts of Bhugaon, Bhukum, Pirangut, Burawade, Kolvan Khore, Mutha Khore, Paud, Male, Man, Marunji, Kasarsai, Nere, and Dattawadi.

Given the heightened electricity demand during the summer months, managing the deficit posed a considerable challenge. However, proactive measures from MSETCL and MSEDCL saw the implementation of alternative power supply arrangements commencing from 12:05 pm. Gradually, electricity was restored to all 65,000 consumers in the affected villages by 3:36 pm.

Concurrently, MSEDCL swiftly undertook repair works on the damaged power line, successfully completing the task by 3:25 pm. This efficient operation facilitated the restoration of power to MSETCL’s substations in Pirangut and Hinjewadi, marking a swift resolution to the disruption.
