In a decisive move to combat the proliferation of illegal hoardings along highways, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has taken action by assembling a dedicated committee comprising 12 members. This committee will spearhead a comprehensive survey of highways, diligently identifying and addressing unauthorized hoardings while ensuring that installation norms have been rigorously adhered to.
The committee will be led by Tehsildar rank officers, lending their expertise to execute the operation effectively. Their survey mission is scheduled to commence within a week’s time, focusing on several key highways, including Pune-Nashik Highway, Pune-Mumbai Expressway, Pune-Mumbai Old Highway, Pune-Ahmednagar Highway, Pune-Satara Highway, and Pune-Solapur Highway, spanning across a total of 814 villages under PMRDA’s jurisdiction.
Beyond the immediate objective of removing unauthorized hoardings that pose potential hazards to highway commuters, this survey aims to compile a comprehensive database distinguishing between legal and illegal advertising structures within PMRDA. Remarkably, prior to this initiative, PMRDA lacked access to such detailed information. As part of their enforcement actions, all relevant documentation pertaining to hoarding installations will be thoroughly scrutinized and cross-verified with the owners.
