PMPML to Revolutionize Commuting Experience: WhatsApp Alerts for Real-Time Bus Departures

After years of anticipation for real-time tracking on the PMP e-connect app, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Pune is taking a proactive approach to improve the city’s vital PMPML bus service. Chenthil Iyer, AAP Pune Vice President, recently proposed a unique solution to PMPML CMD Sanjay Kolte by suggesting the establishment of a WhatsApp channel for real-time bus updates.

The proposed initiative involves depot managers regularly posting essential information on the WhatsApp channel, including departure times, bus numbers, route details, and destinations. The aim is to empower commuters with the ability to estimate arrival times at their nearest bus stops, enabling them to plan their journeys more efficiently and significantly reduce wait times.

Encouraged by the potential benefits, the PMPML administration has enthusiastically embraced the idea, deciding to launch the WhatsApp channel on a trial basis for buses originating from PMC and Swargate. A recent meeting attended by Joint MD Narvekar, CTM Satish Gavhane, Narayan Karde, and AAP Pune Vice President Chenthil Iyer confirmed the positive reception of the proposal.

The PMPML team has committed to initiating the trial phase of the WhatsApp channel at the earliest, reflecting their eagerness to explore innovative solutions for improving the public transport experience in Pune. This move is viewed as a proactive step by the Aam Aadmi Party to bridge the gap in real-time tracking and enhance the overall quality of the PMPML bus service, a critical component of Pune’s public transportation system. Commuters are hopeful that this initiative will mark a significant improvement in their daily commuting experience.
