PMPML Services Set to Join ‘One Pune Card’ for Seamless Commuting

Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML)

In a significant stride towards enhancing urban mobility and simplifying travel for residents, the launch of the “One Pune Card” by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) has paved the way for integrated transportation services. The card was inaugurated by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, with the event attended by prominent dignitaries, including Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis.

A Unified Travel Solution

The “One Pune Card” has been introduced initially for Pune Metro travelers, with the aim of creating a seamless and convenient experience for commuters. This innovative card adheres to the guidelines set by the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) framework, which facilitates its use not only within the Pune Metro but also in other metro and bus services across the country.

Potential Inclusion of PMPML Services

While the card’s launch currently caters to Pune Metro passengers, discussions are underway to integrate Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) services onto the same card. The integration is envisioned to enable commuters to seamlessly book and pay for both metro and PMPML bus fares using a single card. Although the collaborative process may take time, this move could revolutionize urban transportation by offering a unified solution for various modes of travel.

Partnership with HDFC Bank for Enhanced Convenience

The “One Pune Card” has been established in partnership with HDFC Bank, resulting in a synergy between advanced prepaid and metro card features. This collaboration empowers commuters to streamline their travel and payment processes, simplifying their daily commuting experience.

The User Experience

Hemant Sonawane, Maha-Metro’s Public Relations Officer, provided insights into the user experience of the card. Presently available at all metro stations, the card can be used for transactions up to ₹5,000 without requiring a Personal Identification Number (PIN). This feature not only enhances convenience but also expedites the payment process, making it suitable for quick transactions during travel.

As the “One Pune Card” establishes itself as a versatile travel solution within Pune’s transportation landscape, the potential integration of PMPML services will unlock new possibilities for commuters. With the vision of seamless travel becoming a reality, the collaborative efforts between transport authorities and financial institutions are poised to transform urban mobility in Pune.
