Puneites welcomed a new and much-needed addition to the public transport system as Pune Municipal Transport Corporation (PMPML) inaugurated a fresh bus route, numbered 80, connecting Manapa (Municipal Corporation Congress Building) to CIPLA Centre. The inauguration ceremony, held on Saturday, 02/03/2024, marked the commencement of services, aiming to enhance connectivity for residents and commuters.
Dr. Sanjay Kolte, President and Managerial Director of Pune Municipal Transport Corporation, and Ms. Deepali Dhumal, former opposition leader of Pune Municipal Corporation, jointly unveiled a green flag symbolizing the initiation of the bus service during the celebratory event.
Among the notable attendees were Mr. Baba Dhumal, President of the Senior Citizens’ Association, Nandkumar Bodhai, Chief Transport Manager (Operations) of P.M.P.M.L., Mr. Satish Gawhane, Worker and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Satish Gate, Kothrud Depot Manager Mr. Rajendra Gajare, and Kothrud Yard Engineer Mr. Vikas Mate.
Route number 80 is designed to operate from Manapa Congress Bhavan to Rahul Park, Aditya Garden City, CIPLA Center, and back to Manapa Congress Bhavan. The new route promises a bus approximately every hour, with a total of 8 trips scheduled throughout the day. The service will start at 08:10 AM, and the last bus will depart at 10:30 PM.
The launch of this new route is anticipated to significantly benefit commuters, addressing their connectivity needs across key locations. The move is seen as a positive step toward improving public transportation accessibility in the city, and the officials from PMPML expressed their commitment to continually enhance and expand such services for the convenience of Pune’s residents.
