PMPML Drives Green Initiative: Seven Private E-Vehicle Charging Stations to Enrich Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad

In a significant step towards fostering eco-friendly mobility, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is set to introduce seven private electric vehicle (e-vehicle) charging stations across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The initiative aims to promote sustainable transportation options and cater to the growing demand for e-vehicles in the region.

Locations of the Charging Stations:

  • Hinjewadi Phase 2
  • Bhosari
  • Katraj
  • Baner-Sus Road
  • Pulgate
  • Deccan Gymkhana
  • Bhakti-Shakti Nigdi

These charging stations will offer round-the-clock services for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers, providing a convenient and accessible solution for electric vehicle users.

The Adani Group is spearheading the installation of these charging stations on PMPML property. As part of the partnership, PMPML will receive 32.5% of the profit generated from these charging stations. Construction has already commenced at Hinjewadi Phase 2, marking the beginning of a transformative project that aligns with the city’s commitment to sustainable practices.

A senior PMPML official highlighted that the establishment of e-vehicle charging stations at seven strategic locations is not only an eco-friendly move but also a strategic step to diversify income sources beyond traditional ticket sales. This initiative reflects the forward-thinking approach of PMPML in embracing technology and sustainability to meet the evolving needs of the community.

With a fleet of 1,750 buses, PMPML serves as a crucial public transportation provider in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, facilitating daily travel for approximately 11 to 12 lakh passengers. The transport organization currently generates an average of ₹1.6 crore daily.

This forward-looking initiative not only contributes to environmental conservation but also positions Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad as progressive cities embracing innovative solutions for a greener future.
