PMC Commences Removal of Hadapsar Cycle Track to Alleviate Traffic Congestion

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated the removal of the cycle track near Vaiduwadi on the Hadapsar-BRTS road as part of efforts to alleviate traffic congestion and resolve daily traffic jams and bottlenecks in the area.

This decision came following technical instructions from Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and the PMC began the process of dismantling the cycle track on the night of August 28.

The cycle track, while originally intended to promote eco-friendly commuting, had become a hindrance to traffic flow. Its removal will facilitate the widening of the road, effectively addressing traffic congestion issues and improving overall road conditions.

Notably, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar recently visited Hadapsar to inaugurate a towering 106-foot national flag, which was erected by former corporator Yogesh Sasane. During his visit, Sasane highlighted the importance of widening the Hadapsar-Vaiduwadi road by removing the cycle track to alleviate traffic congestion.

Sasane expressed optimism that the road’s widening due to the cycle track’s removal would significantly ease traffic congestion in the Hadapsar and Vaiduwadi areas. Although the exact timeline for completion of this project remains uncertain, it is expected to be carried out expeditiously. Additionally, there are plans to remove bus stops between Vaiduwadi and Magarpatta Corner to further streamline traffic in the region.

Traffic congestion has long been a concern in Hadapsar and Vaiduwadi, and the road, designated as a BRT route, has experienced frequent accidents. As a result, there has been a persistent demand from residents for road widening by removing the cycle track, and the PMC has now taken decisive steps to address this issue and improve commuting conditions for the local population.
