PMC Allocates ₹550 Crore for Infrastructural Development in Merged Villages

Pune Municipal Corporation

In a bid to enhance the quality of life in 23 merged villages, the Pune municipal administration has earmarked ₹550 crore for the development of essential infrastructure. The focus areas include sewage, roads, water supply, and waste management, with the civic authorities aiming to address longstanding challenges in these regions.

Key Initiatives in the Budget:

Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar announced that the civic budget allocates ₹550 crore specifically for the development of 23 merged villages. A significant portion of this budget, amounting to ₹80 crore, has been designated for the establishment of sewage lines. Additionally, the PMC plans to acquire land to facilitate the creation of improved road networks.

Central Government Funding and Water Supply Prioritization:

To expedite development in these areas, the civic chief highlighted the implementation of town planning schemes supported by central government funding. Recognizing the water scarcity prevalent in these merged villages, the PMC aims to prioritize the enhancement of the water network. This includes incorporating the merged villages into the 24×7 water supply scheme. Furthermore, the municipal administration plans to procure additional vehicles to enhance solid waste management in these regions.

Financial Impact and Revenue Generation:

While the PMC has refrained from imposing tax hikes in the civic budget, the revenue generated from the development in merged villages is anticipated to contribute to additional income. The comprehensive development initiatives are expected to result in increased revenue collection, particularly from building permission fees, signaling positive economic growth.
