PM Modi’s Pune Visit: Enhanced Security Measures and Ban on Drones Implemented

Security has been tightened in Pune as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the city to inaugurate development works and receive the Lokmanya Tilak National Award on Tuesday. A multi-layer security cover of over 5,000 personnel, including the elite Force One commandos of Maharashtra, will be provided to ensure the Prime Minister’s safety during his visit.

The Pune Police has taken additional measures by issuing an order banning the use of drones in the area during the Prime Minister’s visit. This step is aimed at preventing any security threats and ensuring a safe environment for the event.

To facilitate the smooth movement of the Prime Minister’s convoy and ensure public safety, the traffic police have closed several arterial roads and have advised citizens to avoid certain roads and traffic junctions between 6 am and 3 pm.

While the responsibility of the Prime Minister’s security primarily lies with the Special Protection Group (SPG), the local police have been entrusted with providing adequate security at the venues Modi will visit and along the routes his convoy will take.

According to the schedule released by the Prime Minister’s Office, Narendra Modi will start his day by performing a pooja at Pune’s Dagdusheth Mandir around 11 am. Subsequently, he will be honored with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award in a ceremony at SP College Ground at 11:45 am.

At 12:45 pm, the Prime Minister will inaugurate two Metro stretches, followed by the inauguration and foundation stone-laying of various development projects at the Parade ground of the Shivajinagar police headquarters.

A senior officer from Pune City Police shared, “An elaborate security cover has been put in place after consultation with concerned agencies. The security detail comprises 5,000 personnel, including three companies of the State Reserve Police Force and one group of the elite anti-terror commando wing Force One. Most of the personnel in this group have come from neighboring jurisdictions like Satara, Sangli, and Raigad. We will also be getting home guard personnel for crowd control, etc. One senior officer from Pune City Police has been given the charge of the entire security detail of the individual venue.”

In addition to the security measures taken, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) R Raja issued an order on Sunday prohibiting the use of drones in the entire area of Pune city until August 2. This step is a precautionary measure to prevent any unauthorized aerial activities that could pose a security risk during the Prime Minister’s visit.

With these comprehensive security arrangements in place, the authorities aim to ensure a safe and successful visit for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all participants attending the events in Pune.
