Parking Predicament Plagues Mahalunge: Residents Struggle Amidst Haphazard Parking Woes

Residents of Laxman Nagar, Mahalunge, are grappling with a persistent issue of haphazard vehicular parking, creating distress and inconvenience for those living in the area. The situation is exacerbated by vehicles, including cars, parked on both sides of the road, impeding traffic flow and hindering residents from accessing their own vehicles.

A concerned resident, speaking on the condition of anonymity, highlighted the specific challenges arising due to the proximity of a school in the area. The lack of a proper parking system at the school compels parents dropping off their children to park on the road, causing disruptions in traffic flow and significantly reducing available space for other vehicles.

The resident shared, “We have previously raised the issue with the school, but there seems to be a lack of management response. The vehicles parked on the road occupy a substantial portion, leading to daily traffic congestion, especially during morning hours. Events at the school further exacerbate the problem, resulting in an increased number of parked vehicles.”

Another resident echoed the concerns, emphasizing the everyday inconvenience caused by the lack of monitoring during parent-teacher meetings and other school-related functions. The absence of organized parking management adds to the challenge, making it difficult for nearby residents to navigate the roads.

The resident asserted, “While we understand the presence of the school is essential, there should be some form of vehicle management to ensure residents do not face daily difficulties. The road is a shared space, and everyone should adhere to responsible parking practices. Unlike the city area, there is no organized parking system here, leading to regular inconveniences for the residents.”

Residents in the vicinity are urging the school authorities to implement a proper parking management system, ensuring that vehicles arriving at the school are parked systematically, mitigating inconveniences faced by nearby societies.

Despite attempts to contact the school authorities for their perspective on the matter, no response has been received. In light of the ongoing challenges, residents are seeking cooperation from the school and are also reaching out to Pune Traffic Police in the hope of finding a comprehensive solution to the persistent parking issue.
