Opposition Parties Stage Protests During PM Modi’s Pune Visit

Pune, 1st July 2023: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Pune, opposition parties took the opportunity to voice their dissent with black flags and protests in the Mandai area. Social organizations, including Congress, joined hands in displaying their disapproval of the Prime Minister’s visit.

Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar, along with leaders Ramesh Bagve and Mohan Joshi, along with party activists, gathered to raise their voices against the Prime Minister’s visit. However, the police were quick to prevent the protesters, and some of them were detained. A substantial police force was deployed in Pune to ensure security during the visit.

The opposition parties utilized PM Modi’s visit as a platform to protest and criticize his policies. Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar expressed his dissatisfaction, stating, “Instead of addressing urgent issues in Manipur, the Prime Minister is here in Pune for publicity stunts and empty promises. These events lack any real substance to benefit the people; hence, we are protesting against Prime Minister Modi’s presence in Pune.”

When questioned about protesting without welcoming the country’s Prime Minister, Dhangekar responded, “The Prime Minister should have been in Manipur, where people are suffering and facing grave challenges. However, he is not addressing their plight or speaking about their hardships.”

During his visit to Pune today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be honored with the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award. He will seek blessings at the renowned Dagdusheth Ganpati temple in Pune. Additionally, he will inaugurate two extended lines of the Pune Metro and several thousand houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
