In a surprising turn of events, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Jayant Patil’s alleged meeting with Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah in Pune has sparked speculations about his potential shift to the Ajit Pawar faction. This development comes amid ongoing discussions about his possible alignment with Ajit Pawar’s group within the party.

Reports suggest that the meeting between Jayant Patil and Amit Shah was facilitated by Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. The meeting is said to have taken place at the JW Marriott Hotel in Pune.

Jayant Patil holds significant stature within the NCP, as he currently serves as the state president of the party. Notably, he was one of the few prominent leaders who chose to remain loyal to party chief Sharad Pawar when Ajit Pawar opted to align with the Maharashtra state government, along with around 40 MLAs.

The reports further indicate that besides Sharad Pawar, a few more MLAs from the NCP, including Prajakt Tanpure and Suman Patil, are rumored to be considering a transition to the Ajit Pawar faction. There is also speculation that Jayant Patil might be included in the state cabinet, as a cabinet expansion is anticipated in the near future.
