As Navratri celebrations take center stage, Pune witnesses a remarkable shift in vehicle preferences, with an increasing number of Punekars opting for electric vehicles (e-vehicles) over traditional petrol, diesel, and CNG counterparts. The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) reports an impressive surge in e-vehicle registrations, encompassing two-wheelers, four-wheelers, buses, and rickshaws. This eco-conscious move aligns with the environmentally friendly policies of the central government, encouraging Punekars to embrace sustainable transportation options.
Pune’s Love for E-Vehicles
The data from Pune RTO reflects Punekars’ growing affinity for e-vehicles, emphasizing the popularity of electric two-wheelers, followed by four-wheelers, buses, and rickshaws. While two-wheelers dominate the trend, the preference for e-vehicles extends across various segments of the community.
Central Government’s Environmental Incentives
Punekars’ inclination towards e-vehicles is not only about embracing modernity but is also attributed to the central government’s incentives for eco-friendly transportation. This eco-conscious shift mirrors the nation’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and conserving the environment.
Festive Season Sparks E-Vehicle Bookings
The festive season has further accelerated the demand for e-vehicles in Pune, with a noticeable surge in bookings at private e-vehicle dealers. With the delivery expected during the Dassera and Diwali festivals, over 1,000 electric bikes have been booked and sold. This trend underscores people’s willingness to choose e-vehicles over conventional fuel-powered ones.
