MSEDCL’s Swift Action: Replacing Burnt Transformer and Restoring Power in 5 Hours

In a remarkable display of efficiency, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) swiftly replaced a 315 KVA transformer that had been damaged in a fire at Sankalp Nagar, Dehu Road. Notably, this speedy operation took just five hours to complete, impressing the local community and earning accolades for the MSEDCL team.

The incident unfolded when a 315 KVA transformer in Sankalp Nagar, under the Bhosari division of Dehu Road, caught fire on a Wednesday morning. The fire not only damaged the transformer but also caused harm to high and low voltage power lines, along with feeder pillars.

Despite the prompt efforts of the fire brigade, it was feared that restoring power to approximately 500 affected customers would take at least 12 to 18 hours, given the extent of the damage. Compounding the issue, alternative power supply options were not readily available due to the fire’s impact on the local power infrastructure.

However, Assistant Engineer Manoj Purohit and his dedicated colleagues from MSEDCL sprang into action. They initiated rapid repairs to the damaged electrical system and swiftly arranged for the replacement of the burnt generator. The Department’s Executive Engineer, Atul Devkar, and Additional Executive Engineer, Mahesh Deshmukh, facilitated the process by providing essential materials, new transformers, and power cables.

To replace the damaged transformer and power lines, a crane was deployed, which enabled the MSEDCL team to overcome the challenging circumstances. Remarkably, they succeeded in restoring electricity to the area in just five hours, ensuring uninterrupted power supply for the residents of Sankalp Nagar.

This impressive feat didn’t go unnoticed by the local community. As a gesture of appreciation, the electricity consumers of Sankalp Nagar recognized the efforts of Assistant Engineer Manoj Purohit and his colleagues, including Janamitra Nitin Bharambe, Ajay Phate, Swapnil Dhande, Nikhil Damdar, and Nilesh Naikodi, based at the Dehu Road office.

The commendable response by the MSEDCL team not only exemplifies their dedication to their customers but also underscores their commitment to delivering essential services swiftly and efficiently, even in challenging situations.
