MP Supriya Sule Appeals to Defence Minister for Relaxation in House Repair Restrictions Near NDA

Pune: Member of Parliament (MP) Supriya Sule recently met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi to discuss the challenges faced by residents within 100 meters of the National Defence Academy (NDA) area. The discussion centered on the restrictions imposed on house repairs and constructions in the vicinity, with Sule advocating for a reconsideration of the current regulations to address the concerns of affected citizens.

The NDA region, spanning Kondhwe-Dhawade, Shivane, Kopare, Uttamnagar, Ahire, Kudje, Kirkatwadi, and Khadakwasla, has been under the Ministry of Defence’s jurisdiction since its establishment in 1954. The decision to construct an airport for trainees within the NDA premises in 2017 resulted in stringent restrictions on residents obtaining a ‘No Objection Certificate’ for house repairs or construction.

Despite the Supreme Court validating a circular dated October 25, 2016, specifying a protection wall distance of 10 meters for constructions, NDA continues to enforce a 100-meter restriction. MP Supriya Sule urged the Defence Minister to consider the validated circular, seeking immediate permissions for constructions and repairs within the stipulated 100 meters.

Additionally, Sule highlighted the deteriorating condition of roads connecting Ahire village, Mokarwadi Sonarwadi, Wanjalewadi, and Khadewadi villages within the NDA jurisdiction. These damaged roads pose significant inconveniences, especially during the monsoons. MP Sule urged the Defence Minister to facilitate the repair of these roads, pointing out available funds at various levels for this purpose.

The lack of special permissions has hampered the road repair process, and Sule sought the Defence Minister’s cooperation to expedite the much-needed repairs. The meeting included concerned villagers Trimbak Mokashi, Vijay Gaikwad, Shailesh Chavan, and Khushal Karanjawane, emphasizing the collective plea for immediate attention to these critical matters affecting the daily lives of the citizens in the region.
