Mobile Phones Discovered Inside Yerawada Central Prison; Case Filed

Yerwada Jail

In recent months, the recurring issue of prisoners using mobile phones within the confines of Yerawada Central Prison has raised concerns among jail officials. The most recent discovery involves the recovery of three more mobile phones from inmates, prompting authorities to file a case at the Yerawada Police Station.

According to the police complaint, three prisoners, namely Niranjan alias Nilesh Balu Shinde, Mahesh Raju Panchariya, and an unidentified individual, have been implicated in the matter following a complaint lodged by Yerawada jail officials. The mobile phones, along with their batteries and SIM cards, were reportedly concealed in a bag by Nilesh Shinde while inside the prison.

This incident is not an isolated one, as several prior cases of mobile phone recoveries within Yerawada Central Prison have been reported. However, there has been a noticeable increase in such incidents over the past few months, resulting in fresh cases being registered against inmates each time a mobile phone is discovered.

The usage of mobile phones within prisons poses significant security risks, as it can enable inmates to communicate with the outside world and potentially engage in illegal activities. Prison authorities are actively working to curb this issue and prevent the unauthorized possession of mobile devices by inmates.
