MIT-WPU’s 13th Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad Concludes Day 2 with Insights into Youth, Culture, and AI

Pune, 11th January 2024: The second day of the 13th Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad at MIT World Peace University, Kothrud, wrapped up with enlightening discussions on Youth, Culture, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Distinguished speakers, including Author Dr. Vikram Sampath, Political Analyst Dr. Shehla Rashid, and Lyricist, Writer Manoj Muntashir, engaged with students on these crucial topics.

The day commenced with the Yugantar session, focusing on the theme “Youth in Transition.” Dr. Vikram Sampat emphasized the importance of understanding history, stating, “History is a mirror where we identify ourselves as a nation, as a civilization, and as people. It’s important to look into history if you wish to plunge into the future.”

Dr. Shehla Rashid delved into the realm of Democracy 2.0, highlighting the impact of AI and social media on politics. Expressing concern, she remarked, “AI-powered algorithms are being used for targeting voters, and social media platforms are becoming battlegrounds for shaping political discourse. The Cambridge Analytica scandal, the weaponization of deep fakes, and echo chambers created by filter bubbles are pitfalls for the digital landscape.”

The day concluded with a vibrant cultural dialogue led by Manoj Muntashir, who spoke about the power of folklore in Indian culture. He emphasized, “Political freedom and political independence are incomplete without cultural freedom.”

The three-day conclave will conclude on Friday, the 12th of January, with discussions on pressing issues such as the Caste Census Dilemma and Women’s Safety. Renowned personalities like Rajyasabha MP Manoj Kumar Jha, Missile Woman of India Dr. Tessy Thomas, and noted actress, playback singer, and former MP, Rajya Sabha Smt. Roopa Ganguly, will participate. Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will be the Guest of Honor for the valedictory session.
