Midnight Heroics: Pune Firefighters Rescue Family from Blaze in Gangadham Phase 2

In the early hours of yesterday, the Pune Fire Brigade showcased unparalleled bravery and efficiency as they swiftly responded to a fire outbreak in a seventh-floor apartment at Gangadham Phase 2, Market Yard. The midnight blaze led to a dramatic rescue operation, ensuring the safety of a family trapped on the balcony amidst thick plumes of smoke.

Upon receiving the distress call at 1:48 am, six fire tenders and a water tanker rushed to the scene from various locations in Gangadham, Kondhwa Khurd, and the headquarters. Led by officers Sanjay Ramteke and Kailas Shinde, the firefighting personnel tackled the flames emanating from a four-room apartment.

The rescuers encountered five family members – an elderly woman, a couple, and their two young children – desperately seeking refuge on the balcony. Through coordinated efforts, the firefighters successfully rescued them, averting a potential disaster. The fire, believed to have originated from a burning lamp in an adjacent room, was brought under control within thirty minutes.

Despite the successful intervention, the incident exposed a concerning issue as the building’s permanent fire extinguisher was found non-operational. Nevertheless, the firefighters’ prompt response prevented the flames from spreading to neighboring units, potentially saving more lives.

The rescued family members, Mahesh Babulal Oswal, Bhakti Mahesh Oswal, Usha Babulal Oswal, Ahana Mahesh Oswal, and Aarav Mahesh Oswal, owe their lives to the selfless dedication of the Pune Fire Brigade. The firefighters risked their own safety to ensure the safety of others, exemplifying courage and professionalism in the face of adversity.
